The Compeer Model developed from the concept that social support, along with traditional psychotherapy, contributes positively to an individuals mental health recovery. Individuals with a diagnosed mental illness are matched in a one-to-one supportive relationship with community volunteers for a period of four hours per month for at least one year. These individuals are referred by a mental health professional that assists in the implementation of the Model along with a volunteer Coordinator wPARSED CONTENT
